Automate battery cell training processes to optimize performance and accelerate production.

We are currently looking for an Automation & Control Engineer within our Process Training team (controlled charge/discharge cycles of battery cells). As such, you are responsible for designing, implementing and optimizing automated materials handling and control systems that support training operations. This position ensures seamless integration between production equipment, warehouse and logistics systems, as well as MES, to ensure efficient, traceable and high-throughput material flow. We are currently looking for a Logistic Process Control Engineer to join our Formation Process team (controlled charging/discharging cycles for battery cells). As such, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated material handling and control systems that support formation operations. This role ensures seamless integration between production equipment, warehouse/logistics systems, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) to guarantee efficient, traceable, and high-throughput material flow.

Main missions / Main responsibilities

  • Design and integration of control systems
  • Develop and ensure maintenance of the control logic of automated logistics systems supporting the Training process (conveyors, ASRS, elevators, buffer zones).
  • Integrate programmable logic controllers (PLC), SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g. OPC, MQTT, REST API).
  • Guarantee interoperability between training equipment and logistics systems.
  • Logistics automation
  • Design and optimize the automated flow of materials, from pre-formation stages to post-formation stages.
  • Implement routing logic, scheduling algorithms and queue management for high volume production.
  • Provide support for layout design and capacity simulations for logistics systems.
  • Integration of MES and IT systems
  • Interface logistics control systems with MES and ERP platforms as well as other digital systems.
  • Ensure full traceability of materials (e.g. cell holders, trays, containers).
  • Manage data exchange, equipment status and process monitoring.
  • Assistance with the Training process
  • Work closely with training process engineers in order to align logistics operations on the different equipment.
  • Ensure safe handling and controlled movement of sensitive materials.
  • Optimize buffer storage strategies to avoid bottlenecks in processes.
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Lead system commissioning, validation and ramp-up activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve failures in control systems, automation and communication layers.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support during production.
  • Continuous improvement
  • Analyze system performance (throughput, downtime, error rate) and implement improvements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve productivity, reliability and cost reduction.
  • Use digitalization tools such as data analysis and predictive maintenance.

  • Optimize buffer strategies to avoid process bottlenecks.

  • Lead system commissioning, validation, and ramp-up activities.

Prerequisites / Requirements

  • Bac+5 level diploma, ideally in Robotic Automation / Industrial Automation or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an automated industrial production environment
  • Advanced level in English and French
  • Experience in PLC development and maintenance

  • Mastery of SCADA environments
  • Good knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC, MQTT, REST API, etc.)
  • Experience with automated handling systems: conveyors, ASRS, buffers/intermediate storage systems
  • Experience in industrial systems integration with MES/ERP

  • Management of data exchanges and traceability of flows
  • Understanding of hybrid IT/OT architectures
  • Knowledge of MS SQL
  • Basics in programming languages such as C# or Python
  • Analytical mind and structured problem solving
  • Ability to work in a complex and evolving environment (agility, resilience)
  • Ownership / sense of responsibility
  • Clear and impactful communication
  • Master’s degree, ideally in Automation and Robotics
  • Previous experience in an automated industrial production environment
  • Proficiency in English and French
  • Experience in PLC development and maintenance
  • Proficiency in SCADA environments
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC, MQTT, REST API, etc.)
  • Experience with automated material handling systems: conveyors, ASRS, buffers/intermediate storage systems
